At Little Bees Day Nursery, we believe that children’s earliest memories and experiences will shape the way they think and feel for the rest of their lives. We put your child at the centre of our provision by listening to your child’s voice.
We believe that children can express their voice in a multitude of ways – not just verbally. A young baby communicates with their eyes, their hands, their body movements or the sounds they make which reveal when they are interested, excited or calm. By recognising what inspires your child, we provide meaningful early life experiences which allow children to develop a love of learning and a confident self-image.
Our role during the early years is not to be ‘teachers’ but rather to become play-partners and create opportunities for children to discover for themselves. We shape the environment around the child to inspire them. We scaffold and support learning; we offer encouragement and a positive mindset while modelling the ways in which children might want to engage with the world around them. Most importantly, we allow the child to choose what resonates with them.
We believe that an essential aspect of healthy early years development is a connection with nature and the outdoors. We have a lovely outdoor area within our setting and a park across the road. We regularly take groups of children on nature walks and we offer forest school activities in the nearby wildlife area.
We have developed our own blended curriculum based on influential early years approaches that have resonated with our values. Please browse our website to find out more.
OFSTED (the Office for Standards in Education) inspect and regulate all educational settings including providers of early childhood education.
Little Bees has received its first Ofsted inspection in September 2025 and we are very pleased to share that we obtained Outstanding. Please download our inspection report below.

We are so pleased to share that at our sister nursery, Bumble Bees, we won Nursery of the Year Award (South of England) at the NDNA Awards 2025.
The same award winning curriculum is being delivered at Little Bees.
